Main Text: Luke 5:1-7
5 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a]the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God.
2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets.
3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
What does it mean to flourish?
Flourishing means to grow, thrive, prosper and have vigorous abundance in excess.
Gracefully abound in money, health, mental capacity
There are three levels of people:
"Not enough": Poor and survivors - Deuteronomy 15
"Just enough": People who have enough for themselves but enough for others
"More than enough": People have a lot to spare. When God takes you to those levels, you should be a blessing to others.
Take Home Notes
When God makes you to flourish, he expects you to be a channel to help other people and be a blessing.
God is interested in you: 1 Cor 3:6-7; Genesis 26:13 - the progress and flourishing of Isaac was something that was visible because the Philistines had to envy his successes - Daniel 2:21 When God wants to bless you, He brings an opportunity. It may come with problems, impossibilities, etc.
Procrastination limits our access to the next level: It's an act of placing high priority actions off with low tasks of operation.
Conclusion
What to do to flourish?
Learn from other people's mistakes
Always listen to God's instruction
Watch the type of company you keep
You must learn to hunger for God and have the capacity to receive
Not every Christian will not be able to handle wealth because they are not faithful
If you don't desire to flourish, it won't come - Pastor Francis Tekobo
Genesis 1:27-28; Psalm 25:6-7: Mark 5:25-29; Daniel 3:20; Revelation 3:7
Quote of the Day:
When you are flourishing, affluent, and in abundance, bu your offsprings are not, it means you are not doing well - Pastor Francis Tekobo
