Main Text: Romans 9:15-16

15 For he says to Moses,
“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”[a] 16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.

Lamentations 3:22-26

22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; 26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Exodus 2:24-25

24 God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob.25 So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.

What is Mercy?

It is not getting what you deserve, it is withholding punishment for someone who should have been punished.

Mercy is who God is: Micah 7:8-19; Titus 3:5; 1 Chronicles 12:13; Nehemiah 9:31; Ephesians 2:4

Mercy is the deep expression oof God's love towards you and the entire world.

Mercy is God's gift to a repentant heart.

Why do you need the Mercy of God?

  1. You need the mercy of God to fulfill your purpose.

  2. It guaranteed help from God: It can revive a life that is dead.

  3. It guaranteed hope and new beginning for you.

  4. Can re-write someone's history: Ex. David.

  5. It brings you from shame, reproach, and dishonor and cancels them.

  6. It guarantees that you will not die before your time.

  7. It guarantees and terminates long-term problems.

  8. Can give you strength when you are weak.

  9. Can heal the sick: separates you from the rest.

  10. It causes you to be remembered.
